About the Coalition

The Coalition for Property Rights (CPR) is a nonprofit, property rights education and advocacy organization based in Orlando, Florida. CPR was founded in 2001 by a group of Central Florida business leaders to unify property owners and bring greater public awareness to the importance of property rights. CPR's mission is to educate the public and elected officials of the importance of private property rights and to defend these rights from further erosion.

Who is CPR?

Our members are individual citizens and business leaders who care deeply about the future of our state and nation.

Our members represent a broad cross-section of property and business owners. They include individual home owners, land owners of almost every scale and land useage, as well as accountants, appraisers, architects, builders, engineers, farmers, lawyers, land use consultants, manufacturers, marketing & advertising professionals, nursery growers, ranchers, real estate professionals, retailers, retirees and even non-land owning citizens.

Our members share one common concern: a growing sense of alarm at the increasing regulation of land use in America.

Why Should We Preserve Private Property Rights?

Property rights provide the foundation for individual freedom and economic opportunity and are absolutely vital to the prosperity of our local, state and national economies.

Excessive regulation restricts the creative and constructive use of property, impedes the ability of property owners to respond to free market demands, and ultimately, limits the economic potential of ordinary citizens who are seeking to realize their individual American dreams.

Our members recognize that when the rights of any one land owner are impacted, the rights of all land owners are placed in potential jeopardy.  Our American judicial system relies heavily on case law precedent. As a result, any government action or legal ruling impacting the rights of any land owner across the country could potentially be used as the basis for restricting your individual property rights.

Property owners must recognize there are well-funded political forces at work in America today (citizens and special interest groups) seeking to advance political and/or social agendas which are directly and indirectly opposed to America's system of private property ownership.

In the face of these challenges, property owners who desire to see ownership rights preserved must unite to harness the strength found in collective numbers and to increase public awareness of the importance of private property rights.

As a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, CPR's work is entirely supported through the generosity of our individual members and corporate sponsors.

If you personally value private property rights and agree that "someone, somewhere" ought to be actively promoting the preservation of property rights in America, we encourage you to join CPR in this important effort today!
